MOOC « Bases in animal diseases epidemiology”

This first MOOC on “Bases in animal diseases epidemiology” is produced by Cirad in collaboration with FVI and constitutes one of the MOOCs of the Online University for agro and biosciences of Agreenium (AUOL).

OPENING OF REGISTRATIONS’ MOOC « Bases in animal diseases epidemiology” - SO FAR FRENCH ONLY (but soon English version)

Currently in the world, many epidemics emerge or re-emerge (Rift Valley Fever, Peste des Petits Ruminants…) and their treatment by the sanitary health services requires fine epidemiological analysis. Epidemiology is the study of diseases and health factors in a population.  Its purpose is to provide useful informations for making health-related decisions. It will be used to define an action plan to fight against diseases forecast changes in the spreading of these  diseases, etc.

This course will enable you to learn the l basics of epidemiology of animal diseases in order to be able to offer good monitoring indicators and to calculate predictive screening methods. At the end of the MOOC, participants will know the necessary basics in epidemiology for understanding and apprehension of the  dynamics of animal diseases spreading. They will know how to build, calculate and interpret the most important epidemiological indicators. This distance learning module was designed by epidemiologists of Cirad (CMAEE and AGIRs), FVI (France Vétérinaire International), vet schools (Alfort and Toulouse) and Anses (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety). The MOOC was created and developed from existing face-to-face trainings and e-learning courses which are used for field classes and within training workshops, in France or in others countries.
