Title: Socio-economical diagnostic of the game ranch of the Cawston Block, Zimbabwe

Summary

The study took in Zimbabwe in a game ranch specialized in trophy hunting and focuses on socio-economic issues. The social diagnosis consists of an analysis of the services provided to the communities and of a questionnaire within the staff of the company. Results show that the ranch provides services (among which meat donations, transport) to a wide variety of actors and sectors which help to enhance local development.

The labor survey shows that the employees of the ranch are involved in various livelihood strategies which are influenced by the help provided by the ranch. The economic analysis compiled 6 years of financial data, and with the help an ecological and economical model, highlighted the most profitable species and the key drivers of that profitability. Finally the impact of various events and legislation changes on the ranch was assessed, notably by analyzing the evolution of the number of clients.
