Call for MSc and PhD application in the framework of the Shangani holistic climate change.

We are pleased to announce that applications are open for an Oppenheimer Generations Research and Conservation (OGRC) scholarship on climate change and ecosystem services at Shangani Holistic, Zimbabwe. Climate change related hazards such as recurrent droughts are posing challenges to livelihoods especially among rural households, through impacting on the terrestrial ecosystem goods and services.

Call for application for a PhD in ONE HEALTH

Cirad has submitted a project proposal (Nexus BiHLi, see summary below) in response to a call from the University of Montpellier, MUSE (Nexus exposUM) to fund several PhD projects. It is important to note that funding has not yet been secured because these projects will not be evaluated until mid-July. But the procedure calls for a pre-selection of applicants. So, here is one of the PhD offers for a study that will be conducted in Zimbabwe, please find it attached: “Co-designing an integrated community-based syndromic health monitoring system for wildlife, livestock and humans in a rural SES of Zimbabwe”.

The University of Zimbabwe’s state-of-the-art biotechnology lab, recently inaugurated, not only positions Zimbabwe to meet its requirements for capacity building, surveillance, diagnosis, monitoring, and control of animal and zoonotic diseases, but also has the potential to become a regional hub for top-notch research collaborations among scientists from the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

CIRAD celebrates 30 years of work and partnerships in Zimbabwe

In 1993, CIRAD began working in Zimbabwe, in Masvingo province. In 1996, it implemented the first FFEM project, aimed at conserving biodiversity and improving community livelihoods in the Mid-Zambezi Valley. Things have come a long way since! A rich programme of events is planned for this 30th anniversary.
